Department of Biotechnology
The Department’s mission is to teach, research and transfer new plant breeding and production technologies according to social trends and needs; research techniques – new technologies in production for agriculture, application of microbiological technology for agriculture in the production of fertilizers – biological pesticides, in the treatment of diseases of plants, animals, aquatic animals, products and research in the fields of environment, pharmacology.
Organization: The department has 15 lecturers (5 doctors, 3 PhDs and 7 masters).
Training: The department teaches subjects on microbiology, physiological and biochemical processes in organisms, genetic knowledge, molecular biology, biosecurity, general knowledge and specializes in biotechnology and scientific research methods; informatics applications in biology; knowledge of agricultural biotechnology such as: plant tissue culture, farming and seed production in agriculture; knowledge about microbial biotechnology, application of microorganisms in life, application of biotechnology in processing and preserving agricultural products and food; Application of biotechnology in flower production, Genetic basis of plant breeding, Genetic basis of animal breeding, biotechnology in pest management, knowledge of internship and graduation such as: collection, measurement, synthesis and analysis, data processing, practical internships and specialized internships in the fields of biotechnology for university students.
Scientific research: Research is mainly focused on fields such as agriculture, food processing, medicine, services and tourism, etc, in order to serve the needs of life such as plant varieties, plant health, livestock, aquatic products; food processing technology, high agricultural products for tourism and entertainment. In addition, the application of molecular biology and genetic technology has created high-yield and high-quality crops and livestock, foods and pharmaceuticals for the treatment of human diseases.
Training: The department often organizes training courses or cooperates with other departments to teach according to order requirements. Training courses are organized related to plant varieties, techniques for growing and propagating plants, mycology, tissue culture, ornamental flowers, medicinal materials and new technologies in the field of biotechnology.
Facilities: Genetics laboratory, Tissue culture room, Mycology room, Microbiology room, Protein and Enzyme room, Net house – nursery with modern equipment suitable for research functions research and teaching.
