DEPARTMENT OF CROP SCIENCE
The Department of Crop Science was established under Decision No. 79/QD.TC DHAG 21, 2001, with the duties of teaching, researching, transferring technology in order to train human resources in the field of Crop Science, Cultivation and Plant Protection.
The Dept. of Crop Science aims to improve the quality of training programs for technical staff specializing in Crop Science and Plant Protection to gain the trust of learners in the Mekong region in order to provide human resources to meet the demand for research and agricultural production in the Delta and for the country.
Organization: Dept. has 16 lecturers (4 Doctor, 1 PhD student, 11 Masters)
Training: Dept. provides basic and specialized subjects on Crop Science and Plant Protection, particularly for graduate and undergraduate programs of Crop Science; undergraduate program of Plant Protection for both full-time and part-time options; three years programs of Crop Science and Plant Protection; Plant Protection transition program of college to university.
Scientific research: Dept. focused on research in the fields of crop techniques, seed breeding and plant protection on crops such as rice, food crops, fruit trees, vegetables, industrial plants, flowers and medicinal plants.
Training: Dept. regularly organizes training courses as required on the plant technique, plant protection, and plant breeding towards a direction of safe agricultural production, sustainable agricultural development and adaptation to climate change in the Mekong Delta case.
Facilities: Laboratories for soil analysis, nutrition, plant physiology, tissue culture, genetics and plant breeding, insects, plant diseases; Experimental area, net houses with modern machinery and equipment to meet the needs of teaching, research and technology transferring.
